I am Laurie Brooks. I live in West Pawlet, Vermont with my husband Dan where we own and operate a small, grass based dairy farm. Although I have made art for as long as I can remember, it wasn't until I was 40 and my youngest child was in first grade that I finally went back to school full time to get my art degree. I graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY in 2006 with a degree in studio art and concentrations in printmaking and drawing.

Since then, we've relocated from Dan's fifth generation family dairy farm in central NY state to our much smaller, more sustainable Jersey dairy here in south western Vermont where I continue to make art. My current focus is on printmaking, specifically linoleum reduction prints, as well as tinted charcoal/pitt pastel drawings. Watercolor painting, however, is my first love, and I continue to work in that medium as well.

Much of the inspiration for my work comes directly from my life here on our farm.
